A Pleasure to Be Repeated

I booked this on line for Saturday night dinner, having already enjoyed a late night after-show meal at another Ely (Grand Canal). From the moment of arrival, it was enjoyable experience as we were met by a pleasant receptionist who offered us the choice of a table downstairs – do take this option for an intimate dinner experience. My friend was on crutches and immediately there was another staff member by our side to call the elevator and he was downstairs as soon as we were also to guide us to a table. Thinking of my friend, I opted to be seated at our table immediately but next time I think I would opt to have my cocktail in their lovely bar area.

Serving staff were attentive and knowledgeable, some more than others admittedly, I expect this might have something to do with experience. We both started with their soup as we were feeling the cold. I enjoyed their bread. My friend likes to eat his steak tartare. I opted for the seabass. The food was beautifully cooked as required and the wine was excellent…an Italian chianti.

My friend cannot pass a Crème Caramel so what could I do but keep him company and have some delicious chocolate mousse tart. We ended as usual with Espressos.
As well as the food having wonderful flavour and being beautifully presented, not feeling overly rushed nor kept waiting, I would say that a feature of our visit was excellent customer service in wonderful ambiance. We’ll be back soon.
