Wine tastings for June & July 2013
June 20th - Germany
Adored by those in the wine business, but sadly often overlooked by the wine drinking public. However, there is no debating the quality – Germany produces some of the finest white wines in the world! – Rieslings of varying styles from bone dry and minerally, to rich and sweet – but always impeccably balanced and complex. Even less appreciated and the stunning reds- 100% Pinot Noir – and quite possibly the finest outside of Burgundy! Controversial.... ? Come along and find out.

July 4th – New Zealand – beyond the obvious
Yes, they are justifiably renowned for the Sauvignons and Pinots, but that is just the beginning. World class wine are now being produced from Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gruner Veltliner and Chardonnay. Cabernet Merlot blends are amongst the most refined in the New World and Syrah is staking a serious claim to being the country’s finest red. It’s time to rediscover New Zealand.

July 18th – Alsace- Spoilt for choice
Alsace has long been a favourite of ours, not just for the variety and complexity of the wines, but also because they pair so beautifully with food. There is a little red (Pinot Noir) but it is the white grapes that really excel , and many of them are at their finest here. Quality ranges from AC to Grand Cru,and produce stunning Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Muscat and more. This is a tasting for anyone serious about their whites!
