ely has just won the 'BEST WINE EXPERIENCE' Award at the 2010 Food&Wine Magazine Awards... what better way to celebrate than to join us for either our six week wine appreciation course or for our single wine tasting evenings!
6 Week Wine Appreciation Course
This Autumn our six week wine apprecaition courses are back by popular demand. Our course is perfect for those looking to enhance their wine drinking experience. We examine how wine is made, where it comes from, why we like it and why we sometimes don’t!
A fun, fresh and sociable approach to tasting wines; deciphering jargon, how to get value and how to get the best out of the bottle.
The next course is being held at ely winebar, 22 ely place, Dublin 2 on Tuesday evenings from Tuesday 5th October to Tuesday 9th October.
Each week we will cover the following topics:
1. What is wine – where does it come from and how best to
taste it
2. Principal red grape varieties
3. Principal white grape varieties
4. Other vinous delights – sparkling, fortified, sticky etc.
5. Labelling, provenance, how to order, how to buy,
etiquette, storing etc.
6. Wine & food matching evening
Each evening we will taste six wines, followed by supper and a glass of wine. Whilst we provide spittoons, we would recommend that you don’t drive home, as the temptation to swallow can be just too great!
All notes are provided on the evening, as well as tasting sheets and a loose leaf binder for you to continue to keep a journal of your wine experiences.
The course fee is €245.00 per person and includes membership of the ely wine club and supper on each evening. Courses run from 7.00 - 9.00pm, with supper afterwards.

Single Wine Tasting Evenings
Join us every Thursday from 6.30pm – 8.30pm for our informal wine tasting evenings throughout September, October and November and learn a little bit more about wines from your favourite region.
Each week we will be tasting four wines from a particular region with food matching on the night. Tastings are priced at €30.00 per person, including wine and food.

All tasting evenings will take place in ely wine bar at 22 Ely Place, Dublin 2.
