This is probably the most hallowed estate in all of Italy, Piedmont’s answer to DRC, and with good reason. Angelo Gaja’s wines from Barbaresco and, latterly, Barolo, have been thrilling wine lovers for over four decades. Their single vineyard Barbarescos are the benchmark, not just for Barbaresco, but for the Nebbiolo variety itself. These are wines for the long haul – showing their promise after five years, but with the capacity to age for decades more. Not a whole lot else to say really, other than they thoroughly deserve their reputation as one of the greatest wine estates on the planet
The Sperss vineyard is in Serralunga d’Alba, at the very heart of Barolo. Delicate nose of red berry, blood orange, anise and black summer truffle. The wine powerful yet lifted, with very fine tannins and a very long finish

The Brovia estate was established in 1863 by Giacinto Brovia in the village of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo district, and has been family run ever since. With vineyard holding in some of the most enviable sites in all of Piedmont, Brovia’s wines are true reflections of the land.
