ELY WINE BAR at 22 Ely Place, is where the story began. Erik and Michelle Robson located a vacant Georgian building on Ely Place, a place which would quickly change the Irish wine-scene.
Pioneering quality wine by the glass, ELY WINE BAR opened its doors in December 1999 offering 100 wines by the glass, including champagnes, sherries, and ports. 20 years ago, ELY was serving stunning cheeses and charcuterie, perfect for sharing and known as the ELY Charger, as popular as ever today. Food provenance was as important as the wine with our organic beef and pork coming from our own farm, and the lamb from our neighbours. Today we work very closely with our suppliers to help us find great, fresh Irish produce.
The ELY family boasts over 1200 different wines plus a range of craft beers, premium whiskeys, gins, Cognac, Armagnac, and classic cocktails. Since 1999, ELY has been at the forefront–being the first to truly deliver great wines by the glass and by the bottle. ELY has revolutionised the wine bar scene in Dublin and continues to pioneer wine through its knowledge and research, repeatedly being awarded best wine bar and best wine experience in Ireland. Today ELY has four venues, each different, consisting of two outstanding venues in Dublin city centre, one in Glasthule and one in Maynooth.
