Here’s to the weekend!

What’s on in Dublin this weekend?

Only The Beach Boys playing live, The Docklands Festival and a showing of the movie Independence Day backed by a full orchestra;
Sounds like there will be no shortage of entertainment and activities to suit all tastes in Dublin city this weekend.

We thought we would put together a short blogpost to share some of the event information with you as most of the action is taking place in the Docklands area on the doorstep of ely bar and brasserie.

The Docklands Summer Festival will take place on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st of May. This is an annual event and activities are mainly outdoor, centred around the Grand Canal Dock area which is located a short walk from ely bar and brasserie in the IFSC. Grand Canal Dock is an urban recreational space, originally built in 1790.
The highlights of the festival are the four person raft challenge, the charity rubber ducky race and SUP Yoga, which to us sounds impossible!

The Samuel Beckett Bridge, Dublin Docklands

At the Bord Gais Energy Theatre this weekend The RTE Concert Orchestra will play the live score to Independence Day on Saturday night. In our opinion however, the main event at the Bord Gais this weekend takes place on Sunday night when the Beach Boys play live. For any of you who have been here you will appreciate the surroundings of the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. We can already imagine how hits like Good Vibrations, Surfin’ USA and the classic, Sloop John B will sound in this intimate venue.

Also, don’t forget that EPIC Ireland, the award winning Irish Immigration Museum, is open all weekend too.
Not only is it the perfect family experience but you get 15% off at ely bar and brasserie too!

Cocktails at ely bar and brasserie

ely bar and brasserie will be serving cocktails and drinks before and after both of the shows over the weekend and our Champagne Pannier special is available all weekend at the very special price of €55 for Brut and €59 for Rosé.

We are also open for dinner on Saturday from 5pm and for brunch on Sunday. It’s a lovely stroll from the CHQ building where we are located, over to Grand Canal Dock where you will find both the Docklands Festival and the Bord Gais Energy Theatre. The walk is less than 15 minutes and you can take in the views of Dublin Docklands en route.

Even nicer if the weather behaves and we get a fine weekend!

ely bar & brasserie is located in the heart of the docklands in the Chq Building, next to the George’s Dock stop on the Luas Red Line and five minutes from Connolly Station. Car parking is available with Parkrite IFSC.
